Statement
My art practice is as extension of my spiritual practice. It is rooted in ritual, and it is my attempt to speak about deep, intense and powerful moments that I have experienced. These moments exist beyond language and reason, and art is an appropriate medium to channel these experiences. I am inspired by the power that moves the world; it is nameless, formless, ever-changing, and divine. My current explorations in Shakta Tantra philosophy center on the goddess as primordial energy: she is the great mother, the force from which all things emerge, transform and dissolve. Weaving, both as a metaphor and technique, continues to be a recurring motif in my work, as does color, symbolism and numbers. I have found my vocabulary in abstraction as it allows me to express what is subtle, surreal, and beyond the grasp of the rational mind. My current practice includes drawing, painting, and textiles, and slowly moving into multimedia.
“To see the truth”, as Sri Aurobindo says, “does not depend on a big intellect or a small intellect. It depends on being in contact with the truth and the mind silent and quiet to receive it.”
I seek to create with a pure heart, and from a place of honesty, devotion, and silence.
